Chips N Tonic

$2,700.00

Chips N Tonic aka Chip (or Chipper) is a 15hh pacing bred Standardbred gelding who was born in 2022. When it became abundantly clear that he did not have what it takes to become a racehorse, he was retired via Beyond The Finish Line Standardbreds and came to Lucky Cricket Farm to be restarted.

Chip is forward thinking and a lovely mover. Though he may be small, he has a big ground covering walk and a floaty trot, and has offered a beautiful and correct canter in turnout, suggesting he will have no problem developing this gait as he matures. Though he is a pacer, he has not offered to pace under saddle.

Chip is a young 3 years old, and has been lightly started under saddle. He can walk and trot confidently under saddle, but is still learning to find his balance at the trot. He has a good head on his shoulders and will be easy to finish for a rider who wants to take their time and is confident working with green horses. Chip is young, sound and is ready to grow and learn with his new partner. I see a lot of potential for the dressage ring, but Chip will be suitable for any discipline including jumping once he has matured.

On the ground, Chip is easy to handle. He cross ties, stands for grooming, bathing, tacking etc with no issues. He is kind to horses and humans and is friendly and interested without being pushy. Occasionally, in a new situation, Chip will remind us that he is only 3 and still inexperienced as he can be a bit antsy, but is still very easy to manage. Chip is barefoot and is UTD on his coggins as well as vaccines and trims.
